I LOVE CUES

I still don't know why I started building cues.
I received some Dark Appalachian Maple from Abe Rich (Star Cue) in Jan 2009.
This maple was naturally air dried wood from the 18-19th century. Abe had his treasured wood from the original Star Cue in New York around the 50s. He then moved to Miami FL where he reopened Star Cue on his own.

During the summer of 2008 I visited his store in Miami twice when he was still alive. I asked him if he would sell me his wood but his answer was "I only sell this wood to cue makers. If you don't build cues, how would you know that this wood is so special?" He was very stubborn...

At the end of November, I received a call from one of his relatives. He told me that Abe had passed away on November 25 and asked me if I wanted his wood or not.
I did not expect this... I cried... and said "Yes, I want them all." So that's the whole story of how I got my cherished wood. After I received the wood, I asked other cue makers if they wanted to buy the wood, but no one wanted it!!!
I didn't understand why no one wanted it.... so I sent all the wood to AZ for storage and started sorting everything myself. I spent almost 4 months doing this.... and I felt Abe smiling at me from above.... with his voice "I sell my wood only to cue makers. Lucky, build a cue, build a cue..."

I completed my first work at the end of 2012 and showed it to Ernie. My son and I received special lessons from him, twice.
From the outside, my cues look completely different from Ginacue, but I build them with the same technique. Ernie, thanks a million!!!!
